North Korea 'tests long-range missile engine'

North Korea 'tests long-range missile engine'

North Korea says it has tested an engine made for an intercontinental ballistic missile successfully.

The new kind of engine unit would "guarantee" the capability to establish a nuclear affect on the united states mainland, the KCNA reports agency said.

The test was conducted at the country's long-range missile start site near its western coast.

It's the latest in some exams and launches completed by the isolated region.
  • Can South Korea defend itself?
  • Coping with the North: Carrots or sticks?
  • How advanced is North Korea's nuclear program?
Innovator Kim Jong-un supervised the test, status media report, where "the engine motor spewed out huge flames with a deafening increase".

The united states would now have the ability to "keep any cesspool of evils in the planet earth like the US mainland in your dazzling range," Mr Kim was quoted as declaring.

North Korea should "avoid activities and rhetoric that further destabilise the spot and concentrate instead on taking concrete steps toward rewarding its commitments and international responsibilities," said US state dept. spokesman Mark Toner.
